Dr. Aswani Kumar Kancherla

Research Focus: Structural and Biophysical characterization of peptide and protein therapeutics.

Background: He received his PhD in 2016, from the laboratory of Prof. Siddhartha P. Sarma at IISc, focused on solution NMR studies on the structures and dynamics of conotoxins, and the study of a nuclease domain from Helicobacter pylori. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the laboratory of Prof. Dominique Frueh, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, wherein he contributed to discovering the role of global protein dynamics as communication sensors within non-ribosomal peptide synthetase cyclization domains.

Research Focus: Organ-on-Chip, Mechanobiology, Microfluidics, Nanofluidics, Affordable point-of-care diagnostic devices, Fluid-structure interaction study in cardiovascular engineering, fluid dynamics for biosystems, transport/ reaction process in biology and medicine, microvascular heat transfer, transport and drug delivery through Blood brain barrier and CSF, arterial wall mass transport and biomedical fluid mechanics.

Background: Dr. Joydeb obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology in 2022, where he worked on Theoretical and Experimental investigations of Complex Fluid Systems under the supervision of Prof. A.B. Pandit (Vice Chancellor, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai)

Dr. Mahesh Joshi

Research Focus: Microbiology and Biotechnology – Secondary metabolites from microorganisms and their applications.

Background: Dr Mahesh Joshi completed his PhD in Biotechnology in 2021 from ICT. His doctoral work focuses on melanin pigment, which has various applications. He successfully isolated an organism which produces melanin on solid media. Later, he worked as a senior research fellow on various industry projects. This experience earned him a Postdoctoral fellowship wherein he worked with HUL on the microplastics release and its remediation. Currently, he is associated with NRG as a Project Scientist, mainly focusing on R&D, project management, grant writing, and funding proposals.
