We’re delighted to share that our PhD scholar Deepa Chaturvedi recently attended the MPS World Summit 2023 held in Berlin, Germany this June. There, she presented a poster titled ‘Modeling of Human Microphysiological Skin System for Preclinical Evaluation of Drug Molecules’ elaborating on her work of developing a ‘Skin-on-Chip’ model - an alternative to the use of animal models in the drug discovery pipeline. Our PhD scholar Deepa Chaturvedi recently had the incredible opportunity to present her research at the CRS Young Scientists Committee (YSC) Scientific Workshop during the prestigious annual conference of the Controlled Release Society held at Las Vegas, USA. Her work was met with applause and she was awarded the 2023 Local Chapter Young Scientist Travel Grant Award! Heartiest Congratulations to Deepa!

  • Hearty Congratulations to Mr. Manish Gore (Graduate student) for winning the JSAAE (The Japanese Society for Alternatives to Animal Experiments) Award for the poster presented during the virtual 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal use in the Life Sciences! Manish presented the research work entitled '3D Spheroids of chorioretinal endothelial cells as an alternative-to-animal model for Diabetic Retinopathy.' Congratulations to Mr. Ankit Tiwari (former M.Tech. student) and Ms. Devashree Jahagirdar (Graduate student) for their contribution to this study.

  • Mr. Aditya A Narvekar (Graduate student) and Ms. KM Alka (Master's student) of Nanomedicine Research Group participated in the 'Science Week' organized by 'USP India' on 26th May, 2021. The team presented an interesting research titled 'Thermostability and thermodynamic assessment of USP mAb reference standard using thermal analysis approach- A DSC study.'   • Ms. Ashwini Patil (Graduate student of Nanomedicine Research Group) and Ms. Manasi Dhawane (Master's student) won 2nd Prize for the paper presented on their research work titled 'Colorimetric point-of-care detection of cholesterol using chitosan nanofibers.' The paper was presented during 9th Indian Chitin and Chitosan Society Symposium (ICCSS) 2021 organized virtually from 26th to 28th February 2021. ICCSS 2021 was jointly organized by Indian Chitin and Chitosan Society, VIT Nagpur and NIT Agartala. Heartiest Congratulations Ashwini and Manasi!

  • Dr. Ratnesh Jain and Ms. Amita Puranik (Graduate student of Nanomedicine Research Group) received the ‘BIRAC Innovator Award 2020’ , along with the collaborating team from HiMedia Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India. It was bestowed in recognition of their significant contribution towards the development of a novel and affordable clone-specific chemically defined serum free media and feed for the manufacturing of high value biosimilars. The award was conferred during ‘Global Bio India 2021’ held during 1st to 3rd March, 2021. The production and commercialization of biopharmaceuticals is regarded as an extremely cost-intensive business. The indigenous and innovative work done by the team was recognized as a prime step in making India self-reliant in the sector of protein-based therapeutics.   • Dr. Prajakta Dandekar has been bestowed with 'Prof. N.R.Kamath Book Author's Award' along with her co-editors Prof. Padma Devarajan and Dr. Anisha D'Souza for their book entitled 'Targeted Intracellular Drug Delivery by Receptor Mediated Endocytosis' published by Springer Nature in 2019! The award was conferred during ICT Annual Day Celebrations held on 4th August 2020.
